Murali slams sri lankan cricket board for backing players for England Tour in may

Muttiah MuralitharanFormer great Sri Lankan spinner Muttiah Muralitharan on Friday, has slammed Sri Lankan Cricket board (SLC) for calling back the players from Indian Premier League (IPL). The step was taken by SLC, after the order of Sri Lankan Sports Minister Mahindananda Aluthgamage who called the players to return to home from India, in order to prepare themselves for the series against England scheduled to play in May-June this year. Eleven Sri Lankan players including Mahela Jaywardene and test team captain Sangakkara have given their services to franchises for million of Dollars.

SLC should give permission till May 20: Muttiah Muralitharan

Sri Lankan board has given the deadline of 5 May to the players to return back to Sri Lankan but Muttiah Muralitharan thinks that SLC should give permission to players till May 20.

“I think the board has given them permission till May 20. I don’t know what happened suddenly. The players were told to come on May 5. It is the fault of SLC because they signed the NOC till May 20 so if they change it to May 5 it is something wrong,” Muttiah Muralitharan said.

Muttiah Muralitharan says, SLC should inform to players earlier

Muttiah Muralitharan further said that the players will get demoralized in this situation because if they go back on May 5 they play half of the IPL and they are going to miss a lot. In order to make this effective, the board should have informed the players earlier, so the franchises of IPL would understand and can arrange the alternate players
